You must have the MS Net Framework installed.

Well I'm not sure how lively this post is anymore, but I never saw where qualar's request for an m1710 users help got answered and so far my PMs have gone unanswered as well. Tonight I think I finally found the information that is being looked for...

Here is some brief notes I threw together on the DeviceIoControl buffer data for control code 0x22209C in APPDRV.sys:

04000600 Static
010101 Fan Color (Ruby), Speaker Light Color (Ruby), Panel Back Color (Ruby)
07 Brightness (Max)
01 Save change to BIOS (01 to save 00 for runtime only)
000000 Static
01 Touch Pad on m1710 (01 enabled 00 disabled)
The rest of the bytes are 00 for a total of 44 bytes.

Many thanks goes to "eisber". His C++ source helped me understand what data qualar needed and then it was just a matter of using API Monitor to get the data from my own m1710 and Dell QuickSet.

Also for those interested, I did manage to find a page with a WinAmp plugin, but haven't tried it myself yet.

Anyhow off to bed. Good night!

The XPS led works like a charm on XPS led, and I also managed to get the source to work in Visual C++ Express. So now I can easily change the behaviour of the software. Changing frequencies and colors and more..

What exactly were you looking for Qualar?

I think he was looking for this part of the buffer data:

I wonder how my strain is being put on the LEDs with this program? I understand LEDs can last a long time but how much wear and tear are we talking here, if using this all the time?
I guess LED's are covered under warrenty.

Thanks all,

Sorry for not getting back to you all ive been away. Unfortunately im really busy at work at the moment so wont be adding Touchpad support just yet. But I will when I get the chance.

Regarding straining LEDs, they are designed to do that not like standard bulbs. LEDs flashing should not reduce its life.

One stupid question ... what to do with the media player plugin or to say wher edo I have to put the files
post #51 of 245
I'm looking forward to trying it on the M1710. When i get a chance that is. What was the final result, did it work on the m1710?

Has anyone tried the Media Player plugin using the new Media Player 11 Beta that is available for download on Microsoft.com?

Download the .zip file
Put the .dll into the winamp/plugin directory
Open winamp go to options/visualization/select plugin
select xps leds v1.0 , then Go to pull down menu 'plug-in module'
select xps led's
hit start.

This is exactly what I was searching for, I just took the ddl which was in the zip from qualar and put this in my plugin directory, but winamp wasn't able to detect it properly, but with the lnk you gave me I now have the proper dll...

I'm still wondering for what the other plugin files from qualar are for?

From what I understand, qualar's files are a seperate manual control program to adjust the lights, and also files to have the lights flash with window media player.....not winamp. I use Winamp because it recognizes my IPOD and I can still have the lights flash. It would be cool if someone could make the lights flash with Itunes. Im sure thats pretty hard though.

The only thing I use WMP is watching videos, for music I only use Winamp so I think I'm satisfied with this plugin, cause on videos I wouldn't like flashing...

Many THX
