I just got my 5660-C in via UPS 3-day select on friday (even though i ordered UPS ground, thanx adam ) and I didn't buy the OS, thinking that I could borrow my friend's...

UNTIL IT SNOWED 6" OVERNIGHT, and he can't drive his new 350Z in the snow. (I wouldn't either, it costs about 15x more than the Sager... )

So now I'm sitting here, with all this computing muscle as a piece of desktop decoration. AHHHHHHHHHH!!! The BIOS taunts me: Press [F2] to enter setup. Yes, I would, if there were something to setup for...

My question is, since I'm still amateur-ish, that when I get the WinXP, do I just goto BIOS-->Advanced-->Boot from CD-ROM(1st priority)? And then reboot the laptop? Could anyone offer me some directions or resources on clean installing OS? This would be greatly appreciated.

...some sympathy would be helpful as well...

The xp disk makes it pretty easy to install. Yeah, just set the bios to cd boot and the xp disk will take it from there (explaining the installation to you). Microsoft's site is really helpful if you run into a problem. Good Luck!

OS Install

When you get the OS CD just plop it in the drive.

The Bios will stop and give you a message saying No OS found.

I just inserted the CD and switched it off and turned it back on and Win installation started.

This might have been the wrong thing to do but it worked for me.

I cant think of any other way...

I would watch out how many more people you tell that you are going to "borrow" a copy of a Microsoft operating system.

Not only will you get yourself into trouble if found out, but your friend.
