amilo 1840 battery life?

Hello,

I really like this laptop, but I can't find any review/test regarding the battery life!

As I'd like to use it on the train to do some photoshop/3dsmax work.

Could an owner let me know if I can go and buy it or if there are some problems?

Are you referring to the Amilo 1840 widescreen model?

You will not be satisfied with the battery life of this machine. It got two fans to support (the second one is fore the GPU and thus not always active) and many of the circuits are initally made for desktop computers with no energy-saving purposes.

I have had the machine for a couple of weeks now (currently writing the review) and my estimations after testing is 1-2 hours of battery time, highly depending of what mecanism you are using while working. I would say that photoshop and 3dmax would rise the heat in the machine and battery life will therefor stay aprrox. one hour.

If you are taking the train somewhere and want to work during that you should go for a centrino model. However if you read a book instead and work when you get where your going, you will have extreme computer power when you arrive. A choice you have to make!
