Dunno how you did it shaggy, even though I've duplicated your settings and then some. My best score was a 3280. I guess some machines do, and some don't. Still, I'll keep on trying different combinations...

2ohoh2 disable extra services, this will speed up your system not only for the benchmark, but you will get better performaces with the less resources you use
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm.
Also disable or turn off all antivirus and 3rd party software while running the scans, this will get the true base benchmark

Yeah, I tried that too. I think I was down to about 14 total processes. No dice. What score did you get? Considering that shaggy didn't OC his machine to the max, maybe a less-is-more approach works better

I am pretty sure I am looking at your score on the furturemark website when I compare mine...

If yours, it comes up as the highest number.

There is one big differece when I compare my little 2449 to your 3401 system config:

Mine/Yours

CPU AMD Athlon(tm) 64 802 MHz AMD Athlon(tm) 64 2105 MHz

Shouldn't mine be churning through the calculations at about 1.8?

Where is the setting in XP that is causing me to run so slow - this is with my lappie on wall juice (not batt).

Also, noticed:

Core Clock 297 MHz 435 MHz
Memory Clock 203 MHz 255 MHz

and

Driver Name RADEON Mobility 9600 (Omega 2.5.22) ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600 Series

Driver Version 6.14.10.6422 6.14.10.6404

I DL'd and installed the Omega driver that was recommended to me.

Thoughts?

I think I remenber that deal being a Best Buy deal awhile back. That is the lowest price I've heard of. My purchased was $50 more - still a great deal.
