Upgrading onboard video??

Thread Starter
I have a e1505 duo laptop, and i know i can't just simply add a x1300/x1400 video card to this. Is there a way i can maybe swap out the motherboard, then install the graphics card? If i can, does anyone know what type of work is involved or any special tools needed?? This onboards graphics is alot worse then i thought, it won't even let me play certain games!

Yes, you can replace the MB (and get an x1300 or x1400) all from dell. You shouldn't need any tools beyond screwdrivers and perhaps a star or hex screwdriver. Unfortunately, it's probably cheaper to sell your laptop and buy a new one when the coupons are good than to do this upgrade... (not to mention you wouldn't have a warranty anymore)

well the lcd is also different between the two, so add that to your list of things to replace.

This is incorrect, the LCD will work with any of the Dell video cards. However its still not cost effective to do this change over.

Maybe, the connector is the same as the I6000, D810 and M70 systems.
But its my understanding that the newest Core duo systems have a better LCD with a different inverter so its hard to say if it will work properly.
