FS: Unopened Windows Vista Beta

I have no idea if anyone would be interested in this or what it's worth if someone was interested. I got this from Microsoft yesterday, but I already saw an in-depth demo, so I have no need to install it. It's on a DVD, and from what I saw yesterday, it's got a lot of functionality built in already. The graphics drivers were the main problem the presenter had. Anyway, Vista won't be out for 6 more months, so if you want to see it, play with it, show it to customers, whatever; here it is. I think I'll ask $85 shipped because the rules say I have to, but offer whatever its worth to you.

time to close this thread!

Can this thing even be forsale? Isn't against the the MS agreement?

Closing thread, unless you could post the MS Agreement stating you can sell this.
Hmm According to search result from google...Microsoft often time sell their beta software. But was not able to locate any legal agreement on not allowing it to be resell. Openining in the meantime, unless someone comes up with one...

They also have different versions of their betas. Like, if this were the MSDN version, it probably would be not for resale, but this copy doesn't say that on it anywhere. When I get home, I'll post the version. I do know this is NOT the latest version, but the presenter mentioned he had much better luck with graphics drivers in this version than in the newest version.

A few updates: I guess I can't say 'unopened and sealed' because the sticker is not put on over the cd-sleeve flap like I thought it was at first glance... So, it never was sealed. I still haven't used it though.
It does say on it: "Do not lend or make illegal copies of this disc" but it doesn't say promotional copy or not for resale anywhere.
It is part number X11.97939, February CTP x86, doesnt say version on it anywhere.

Was at a Microsoft seminar for small business owners.

Selling the beta product is illegal. I'd suggest you not do it.
It is NOT illegal. It MAY be a breach of contract, which is a civil offense; "illegal" typically means "criminal".

Unless you signed a contract somewhere forbidding you from selling this, then what would stop you from selling it?

I don't believe either of you, and saying something like that could be misconstrued as a thread-crap. Regardless, I'll now say it is no longer for sale. I am open to trades.

I say, start making copies of this disc and give out as many free copies as you can... Who cares if it's illegal to resell, or against Microsoft rules, blah, blah, blah... You people need to chill out... If this guys wants to sell his copy, let him sell it and stop your wining... You make me sick!!! You can already download illegal copies of it all over the net and as soon as it's officially released I'll be downloading a copy of it myself... I've never paid for a piece of software in my life and I'm not about to start now... Good luck!!!

For the most part I agree with you. I believe the Microsoft has a good product and I will support them (with money) because of it. However, I see no reason why the software has to cost as much as it does. Ever since I went 100% legal, I have way less software, fewer games, fewer movies, hardly ever get new music. It's just priced too dang high. However, you might not wanna advertise that you're a software pirate. The mods of this forum tend to not like that...

Did you submit the 'priceless' thing in your sig to priceless.com? We had a couple at work that we submitted, but they might not have been... white-collar enough to ever win.
