How and from whom would you order one of these cards?!

The thing I was really trying to get around to was "How do you order a 7900gs card, and from whom?" I'm not going to be trotting down to CompUSA and expecting them to have one on the shelf...

dell sells those as a spare part but they are out of stock right now. $325 for the gs.

Hope this helped.

I was also told both different things by the different people.. Finally got someone who didn't want to transfer me to another department and he wanted to charge me the fees.. told him I'd just been told four times I wouldn't be charged and he was adament that it was standard and ANYONE would have to charge me by Dell's standards... I made a fuss and he commenced waiving my restocking fee, not shipping.. more fuss = waiving of shipping too . Just have to pester them!!

few of you guys called and asked for replacment card? don't they want some proof or asking a lot of questions how it was damaged and so on?

I have a 9400 with x1400
and I want to buy the 7900gs and hopefully get it replaced for me, but the lady said in the phone that I just can change it myself, I have 3 years of warranty and my comp is 1 month old, isn't it their duty to help me with replacement and all that?
beacuse I'm not that great with laptops insides, I don't like to go there

she also said that the best idea was for me to buy one from a local store instead from dell, but I haven't seen any store in my country that sell it yet
(sweden)....what to do

You should private message a member on these forums named Bal'thzar. He has dual pipe 7900 Go GS video cards for sale and he might even ship internationally.

Ok, I have been reading all of this site. I bought a e1705 in late april and then the following monday they made the geforce 7800 available again. I tried to cancel the order and it was to late. So now i am stuck with the x1400. I have been trying to figure out can I swap the x1400 with the 7800?

I search and see yes you can and no you can't. Can someone give me the straight answer or point me to the correct thread?

I just called Dell Spare Parts @ 1-800-357-3355 and *drumroll*

$586.95 USD for part #YF227 (Go 7900GTX 512MB)

He said he could give me a discount and get it down to $567. He also told me there was an Extreme Edition part number for near $700... That's crazy.

I just called up as an e1705 user, I did not say I owned a 1710 or anything like that. I'm not sure what difference it would have made though.

I can confirm the YF227 as I just received mine today. Waiting on the power supply. I did not ask about the extreme edition. I just asked for one and got it for $525 including shipping.

Sarkoa, is this the mobile edition for the XPS1710? Do you have an e1705 or a 1710? Thanks.

I have the E1705 and it is the 7900GTX you see in the 7900GTX photo guide located here:

Tried, no dice. They said they don't have it. Extreme edition implies he was talking about the desktop part.
