POST beeping: need advice

OK, so I've got a 4760 that I've had for about 3 years or so. Been a decent computer, but now I'm having serious problems. It's locking up or it won't boot, and I just got a long-short-short POST beep. That tells me there's a bad video adapter (please confirm).

So I thought the vid card was wired right onto the motherboard. If this is the case, does that mean I need to replace the motherboard? Is that worthwhile? In short, is this machine salvagable?

With my current perspective, I would definitely replace the mainboard. It would cost a little but still a justifiable expenditure especially when considering a complete notebook replacement.
