As far as I know Windows XP can't be booted by USB, someone correct me if I'm wrong. I've used live CD's for linux before but never usb.

I have a question to Linux Live CD: I have an 4005 too and I have a Linux Live CD 10.0, aber after boot I have an black screen, but the Linux boot (the Problem is I see nothing!) What did I wrong?

stronzo, what distribution is your live CD based on? 10.0 seems to a Mandrake or Slackware version. Probably the live Cd is using a wrong modeline for the graphic card.

Eh im sorry, where can I find the ditribution?

As for the original question: if you have an USB drive (or stick or even iPod) plugged in when you turn the laptop on it will show up in the BIOS as a hard drive. You have to change the boot order so it will boot from USB, save & reboot and it will try to boot first from USB.

It depends on the distribution, most of them have a file /etc/<name>-release that has the distribution name and version inside. Others, like Slackware and Gentoo, do not use this file. Did you dowload the iso image (.iso file) from somewhere or you get the CD already burned? If you download the image it is more simple to tell me the site where you dowload it from.

I loaded it from the SuseLinux site! How can I implantate a new driver? If I put an second Monitor on it, I see see on second Monitor Linux but not at the Notebookmonitor!
