Dell telling me I need to spend $10 for OS CD now

How did you get your Installation CD for free? Dell is telling me that I have to give them extra $$ for it now.

Tell me your tricks - I dont want to give them more $$!

Never mind! Finally saw the excllent thread below and followed the advice - CD's incoming.

Essentially: act outraged and shocked - shocked I say! - that the installtion CD's werent included.

one question- do the XP recovery cd's only work with dell systems or are they ms cd's?

They only work on dell systems. I used my XPS os cd on my E1705 because I have no disks.

so you could use those recovery cd on any dell systems?

because i want to order the cd's for my sisters dell e1505 but my dell xps media center pc didnt come w/ recovery cd's. so jusss wondering=)

Yes the os cd's will work on any dell system. I downloaded the drivers. I downloaded the networking drivers first to a sd card, so my dsl would work after
the format and os install.
