Hello, that profile is obtained both with fans always ignited in low revolutions, as it is in the image.

Now I have created a profile with cycles every 10 minutes of silence and with himself the following temperatures.

The CPU is very difficult that it happens of 50º (even with service load) and gpu as is it does not happen of 60º, I have put him the difference of 8º in the options of the last beta of i8kfangui.

Fangui seems a bit buggy on mine..it is beta. It will just randomly stop reading temps. Maybe I am running 2 and not three..guess I should check.

It has been about a month with my m90 so I thought I would post an update since a few things have changed.

I am still loving this thing..runs great and has given me zero problems. Found out what I thought was a wireless nic problem was a comcast hsi issue.
I have finally settled back in with the intel 3945 as it gets a better signal than the 1490 I was using.

I have also switched to the d-dock with the pci slot. I dropped an audigy card in and the sound is incredible. This solution is much better than the port replicator/ external usb audigy..I was getting lots of crackles and sound issues.
I have also tried a lot of display drivers out there and always go back to the dell ones as they perform the best for me.
Long live the m90!

Hey cdd543, i have been meaning to ask about the gaming performance. Did you try any other games like HL2, CSS, DODS, and other games besides BF2 or FEAR. Im about to buy one this weekend but im just want to know if IT IS THE EXACT REPLACEMENT To the XPS M1710.

Sorry to the large words, but i have been bugging about which one to get for the past month and i am running out of time.

Appreciate the break

P.S. I feel like shit right now because i ate some Mcdonalds and made my stomach upset so bad, but i just barfed like 10 minutes and still feel like shit.

I've tried HL2 and CSS and both run great (and I'm not even running them full screen (I'm running them i a window... which is usually not the best way to run a game).

Alright, good now i am very confident that i will not be disappointed on the M90 now.
the M90 is like the exact same thing as the xps 1710 but not as flashy. The gpu actually overall is better. It has the xps 1710's gaming performance but it also has the best performance in 3d rendering apps, modeling, photo editing, etc.

Hey Guys, thanks for all the info about the M90 on this site. I just purchased one from Dell today so I hope to see it sometime this week or next. Im not a gamer, mostly use it for work and movies. I run programs like Maximizer, Quickbooks, PDF writer, MS Office and a few other programs with large databases all at the same time. Other programs also include Dreamweaver and Photoshop. I recently started having problems with my Toshiba 1950. It kept over heating and would turn off repeatedly - thats when I realized my 5 year committment with the Toshiba was over. I started soul searching and found the Dell M90 to meet my needs and price range. This is what I got:

Intel T2500 2.0GHz
17" WUXGA Screen
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M 512MB
100 GB Hard Drive 7200 rpm
Dell Bluetooth
Intel 3945 Mini Card

Recieved my M90 today and I am thrilled with the computer.

Intel T26000 2.16GHz
17" WUXGA Screen
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M 512MB
80 GB Hard Drive 7200 rpm
Dell Bluetooth
Intel 3945 Mini Card
8X DVD/RW drive

Just ran the benchmarks after a clean install and stock drivers from the resource CD.

3Dmark06 got a 5192
3DMark05 got a 8156 (Thought this should be higher)

That blew away my 6 month old pentium four.

A quick review.

Screen 8/10

When I first looked at it I was very unimpressed and didn't like it. Changing the contrast/brightness, and after a couple hours of playing around it is great and now I hate my LG 19" screen, never realized on how much cglare that monitor had.

Build 10/10

This is one of the best laptops I have help. my Dell 8400 is like a wet noodle compared to this thing. Heck it is almost like a rock.

Keyboard/Mouse 6/10

The buttons feel fine, but they could have moved the keyboard closer to the front. It is almost like you are reaching across the entire notebook to just hit the spacebar. Have not touched the mousepad as I do not like using them and I am using my wireless mouse.

Performance 10/10

Comparing the scores between this and my 6 month old desktop is mindblowing I nearly tripled my score from my desktop and the 3D programs are loading complex modles without breaking a sweat.

Heat 10/10

Comparing this to my XPS MP120 it is amazing especially with the hardware that is in it. My old Vaio was a heating pad and this is thing barely even gets hot. I was looking for colling pads when I bought this system, heck with that it doesn't need it especially after 5 hours of non stop use.

Well I thought I would add one complain. The brushed aluminum piece on the back is crap and it shows greasy fingerprints. I wish they had a shield for this as that would help out. My only other complant is the weight of the power supply. This thing is massive and weighs about as much as the laptop itself.

Overall this is a great laptop, the best one I have felt and purchased. Thanks to everyone for leading me towards this baby as I am extreamly satisfied.

Congratulations, and welcome to the club.

The M90 rocks.

I'm gonna have to agree with everyone here. I just received my M90 yesterday, and I love it. I definitely have one of the lower end machines, but it still performs great. The only game I've had problems with at max settings is F.E.A.R., but that's only slight chugging here and there. I suspect if I ended some processes and upgraded the RAM I'll see some better performance. But that remains to be seen. I haven't even gotten into overclocking yet.
Speaking of, does anyone here have any ideas on what would be a good program for overclocking the 1500M? I've heard the stock drivers are best. Can anyone back that up?

Need Dell M90's default dell wallpaper.

I'll appreciate if anyone can give me the default wallpaper for Precision M90 (will be located at C:\WINDOWS\web\wallpaper\). I lost it during setting up my M90 for multi-boot. It's not available at all the sites I've been thru, the Dell forums are filled with posts with users mourning the wallpaper loss). Will appreciate if some one can forward it to me.

Thanks in advance.

Well... it was just in the c:\\windows directory. Here you go;

(Just right click and Save Link/Target As.)

Thought I'd post it here for anyone else who wanted it as well.

Enjoy!

Hi Woody,

Thanks so much. I've saved it on my machine and once again it looks like an out-of the-box Dell M90. I bet its difficult to understand how much i missed it. the wallpaper though is 1440*900 and my screen is wuxga (1920*1200). but i can steretch it anyhow.

Tnx again buddy. you're the hero.
