Upgrade 5720?

Any chance I can send in my 5720 for an upgrade (new motherboard, CPU, video, etc.)? I'd love to have a bit more horsepower on the CPU end especially. Core2 is really what I'm really waiting for--64-bit support.

Well, it looks like PCTorque are no longer selling Laptops

This means I am going to be buying my 5760 from DiscountLaptops.com.

I already got the exact configs I want and it will be $35 more w/ DiscountLaptops.com and DL is $100 more compared to PowerNoteBooks.com.
But I NEED the Extended Warranty AND ADP so I chose DiscountLaptops.com.

Will post my exact Pre-order config after I get some final questions answered w/ DL tomorrow morning.

They said they want to focus on the SR community and the notebook forums community, so they should satisfy the COMMUNITY and post a review for some of these notebooks

This still doesn't add up to me.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but something stinks here. Either they got their sager license pulled, had some other business crisis...SOMETHING.

You don't make a decision to completely close down your sales lightly and without preparation/planning, and if they knew they were doing that they wouldn't have announced pre-orders on the 5760 and then close shop a week later.

I'm not saying Luke is being dishonest with us or anything, but it just doesn't add up.

We still full and well can process orders should we so choose, as a matter of fact we are still proccessing Echecks that are clearing, Wire Transfer that are just now posting, and money orders/checks that are just arriving. So there has been so such issue of Sager revoking our service and what not. As far as prep and such, well we have had this on the floor at PCT for a while and it has been an ongoing work in progress, as such we continued to process order and release news announcements as normal. Simply put we no longer have a need to sellcomputers so we aren't, we can do far better things for the comunity with our full attention here rather than being split between sales/support/webpublishing.

And please keep the convo in the proper thread as too not leave bits and peices everywhere

With all due respect, how do you know how long we have been working on this? This kind of a transition isn't one that you can do slowly - either you are selling or you aren't. There is no in between.

And for the record, we are very excited to be working with Sager in this new capacity since we will be able to review more products and share those with everyone.

Before you pull the conspiracy card, please consider for a moment that things go on elsewhere of which you aren't privy.

Hey lets just leave the conspiracy theories to things much more deserving of them like presidential assassinations, alien invasions, 5 headed babies, loch ness monsters, spying on citizens by the government etc. LOL

IMHO I don't think business strategy and planning or organizational restructuring qualify unless the CIA is involved and PCTorque is actually a front company for them secretly diverting funds into researching our secret moon base that we use to clone humans for our ongoing mars populating project

I for one think this is outstanding as this is already IMHO the best forum for all us notebook loving and craving computer geeks to congregate and share knowledge and experiences! I do agree with TwilightVampire and fully expect comprehensive phote laden reviews from PCTorque now that this is their sole purpose

I am also extremely interested in this. I knew that dual-cores would be out within a few months, and I would have rather waited. But I had to buy a new notebook back in November 2005 because my Toshiba notebook was too broken to be of much use. So I had to settle for what I could get at that time.

Luke, if this is something that you can't discuss in the forums, then please contact me privately. I really hope that something can be worked out for an upgrade.
