I've seen a few reviews around the internet on the m1710 but I haven't seen any user/owner reviews yet.Can someone who owns one give a short review or just your opinions on it?How big is it anyways, its hard to tell from the pictures I have seen also does it get very hot? Thanks.

It is just as big as any other desktop replacement and will come in around 10 pounds with brick etc. so a backpack carrying case is nice. It dosn't get too hot though, not with normal use. When gaming it gets quite warm but not more than my HP ever did. It will heat a soda up quite nice if you set it by the exhaust fan as I have found out. The performance on it is astounding, cant ask for a better laptop in that respect.

sorry for the short response but I'm short on time If you want a portable gaming system, I definately reccomend it.

I just got one a couple days ago. I originally bought a Mac Book pro 2 weeks ago but returned it and bought the M1710 instead. I had a little bit of buyers remorse because of the price but it is a fantastic notebook. I don't think it gets hot at all, certainly not compared to the Mac Book Pro I had. It gets warm, but I wouldn't call it hot exactly. It is huge, but not terribly heavy. With the power brick it's about 10 pounds which isn't too bad considering some desktop replacements weigh in around 14 punds without the power brick.

I'll write a review in the next couple days.

I have one... LOVE IT.... haven't had any problems with it yet...I'm going to post pics sometime this week, unless I have to have a lot of rep or something before posting them. This thing is sick, everyone that sees it usually has their jaw drop to the floor when they see the screen and how clear everything is, and the colors...it's awesome. it's also my desktop replacement...I'm a network admin, and I take it with me everywhere...I have the xps backpack (gonna take off the 'xps' logo sometime, don't want to advertise too much). I love it....

Got mine this past Thursday and I'm quite pleased with it. No issues so far but I've not really got into hardcore gaming with it just yet. That'll be the true test. So far the screen, resolution, overall feel and look of the Laptop, and the overall quality is outstanding, from what I can see. Doesn't get too hot on the palm-rests, the keys have a good feel (imho) and I love the changeable LCD lights, very cool.

Highly recommended, especially when you get a 40% discount thanks to a Dell coupon!

What coupon? Where?

They sent me a coupon in my email for 30, 50, or 75% discount (you get one of those discounts randomly, I got the 30% one) just before the 4th of July. I added that to my Employee Purchase Plan discount (certain larger companies have this as an employee benefit) and came up with over 40% off my system! Woot! Got a $3400 Laptop for $2500 after all was said and done.

Thanks to Dell!

If you look through the Dell Review forum, or even here, about a month or two back in posts, you'll find post after post about new users getting their M1710's in the mail, and their first impressions.
