Ferrari 4005 RAM Upgrade?

Thread Starter
I have been scanning multiple forums for a while now and have not found a success story from upgrading the ddr333 to ddr400. My question is will my BIOS recognise the ram and run it at 3200. I have read that the RAM will work but will only run at 2700. I don't want to spend the extra $ to find out that it will only run at 2700.

This is one I was looking into

was also looking into Kingston but the above was a little cheaper

thanks

The Ferrari 4005 supports PC3200 (DDR400) but in order to use the full speed you need to change it inside of Windows. The BIOS will recognize it as PC2700 and run it at DDR333.

The link is gone... I want to upgrade to 3200 ram as well. Has there been any new bios updates to support the 400mhz yet?

NO there is no further bios release for this notebook, but you can easily get your 3200 ram running at default 200fsb.....follow link

Wrong. I got tired of some of the incorrect info on this site so I had to register to correct you people. Follow this link http://secure2.tx.acer.com/VistaDown...cerSeries.aspx and pick Ferrari 4000 from the dropdowns. You'll find updates for some of the Vista specific tools for the F4000... including a new BIOS. Yes, I said it... a new BIOS... version 3A27. Enjoy

I stand corrected as far as the Bios release goes, It would be nice if someone could confirm that the bios release does in fact allow the Ferrari to run at 200fsb, that is what the thread is about, if not then the workaround still applies using A64Info..... Logan
