I am buying this one for my E1705,
D-Link DGL-4300 IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless Gaming Router - Retail
from newegg.

$125. A bit expensive but has good user reviews.

There is no "best for a Dell". Any router would work fine. You listed the leading brands. An 802.11g router should serve your purposes and cost under $50 on sale.

I enjoy my D-link 524. It does what it needs.

I have never had issues with my Linksys routers and highly recommend them. Very easy to set-up and the user interface is really easy to use. Plus the pricing is pretty reasonable.

Man, I wouldn't dare get a Netgear, they are absolute junk. But that's just IMO. I have one, and to keep it stable I swear I had to cut a whole in it, and install a fan. They have overheating issues. And I still have to reboot it about once every 2 weeks. Before the fan it was everyday. I use it as an AP only on my existing wired network, but it just sucks. I would never use the thing as my main network router. Linksys shouldn't be too bad, but it's still not the greatest.

I say go Senao. They have 200mw radios in them and come with High Gain Antennas. http://www.senao.com/english/product...id=02&tp2id=02

That'll be the next AP I go with, look on ebay, they're not too bad.

I have to concur, My linksys Speedbooster G is a blessing compared to my buggy/dropping signal/spiking download speed of my old DI-624.

is there any big differance between them?

I mean, they are all ruters and all they due is wirelss modem?
or is that something else?

Besides speed differences, some use different software. I used to use strickly Netgear products, but have switched to Linksys since you can find modified software/firmware for them that enable alot more features. If you get the Linksys WRT54GS (54mbs with speed booster), take visit over to linksysinfo.org. Get to know your admin settings for a little white, then you might play with some of the upgraded firmwares. I recommend the HyperWRT + Thibor. Been using if for 6+ months now and love it. You can boost the signal power, assign static IPs to computers and remotely reboot the router.

D-Link is the good reliable cheap alternative.

IMHO:
Linksys > D-Link > Netgear

Any Linksys router would be great. I have two Linksys WRT54G's and both are excellent. I previously tried a D-Link DI 624 and the signal was lost more than 1 foot away from the router I wouldnt trust a D-Link.
