M90: Anyone used the M1710 sound software?

From what I understand the M1710 and the M90 share identical sound hardware. The audigy part is only software. Anyone tried it on the M90 to see if it works? Or is it the case that it cannot be used as it has to be registered?

Cheers,
James

I have purchsed it, but dont know if it has had any effect. I do have the creative software installed, but I don't know what games use EAX 3.0 to test that out on.

I'd imagine mose recent games like FEAR use EAX 3.0.

I have it installed on the M90 and it installed some drivers for it so it seems to be a combo of hardware/software. In FEAR I did notice a difference in the sound. It sounded better on my Z5500 speakers.

Hi Sir Meili or anyone who has the M90,
I have questions for you. Just purchased an M90. Does it have a subwoofer? Are the fans pretty quiet? Is the 500 RAM Video card that much better than the 250 one? I don't play hard core games, but want good pictures and videos.
Thanks in advance for taking the time..

Good question about the subwoofer. I just assumed it has one. Anyone know?

EDIT: I found a page (in French) that suggested it does have a sub. Good news.

- Subwoofer: yes.
- Fans: Very quiet, barely noticeable, and only running on load.
- Picture quality: One of the best screens i've ever laid my eyes on, crystal clear, and very bright, got some leakage, but only visible on a completley dark screen.
- If you dont need the graphical power, the 1500 will do you just fine, and this is by no means a weak card, and you can enjoy better battery life. Personally i havent regretted for a second that mine is equipped with a 2500M...
- Battery life, max powersavings on cpu, powermizer on max powersavings, panel at 3 brightness, running wlan, and somewhat powerhungry operations - filecopy, cdburning etc, i have around 3hrs+ battery life.
- Runs linux as a charm too, everything but modem working.

Any game that says its EAX 3.0 or EAX Advanced HD is compatible and will work.

JimBob, Thanks for the help. I found it too, in the User Manual. The Salesman, who was subbing for another rep. "looked it up" and told me "no subwoofer." Just another confirmation of the lack of knowledge about the product from the Dell reps.
[ Infected ], thanks for sharing your hands on experience. I feel that I know what to expect. I have just one more compulsive question. Is the 1500 as sharp as the 7800 go? (I've used that on another laptop).
I'll say it again : You guys are great!

We just install the software?

I instaled it and it appears the Creative Mixer only .. is that ok or should i have more options on it?

if you install the "invite" it will take you to creatives site to purchase the "audigy advancedMB sofware" which will give you the enhanced features. This will cost you $19.95 (plus $4.95 for shipping if you ask to have a copy mailed to you as well).

How does it work with these speakers? Are you able to get the 5.1 sound in ie. DVD movies?

I got probably default option of drivers. There is no advanced option for Europe ;/
