Firstly thanks to everyone for the best info I can find on the net for the 8600 
I am about to purchase one and have read all I can here and elsewhere but there is one question unanswered:
To buy;
?????????????????????????????????????????
WXGA (in the UK that = 1280 * 800)
or WSXGA (in the UK that = 1680 * 1050)
or WUXGA (in the UK that = 1920 * 1200)
?????????????????????????????????????????
Now reading the threads I understand that this is due to both application use and taste. So in asking for your advice on which to buy let me tell you the intended use:
Next 2 years
To stop my teenage daughters beating me and each other up to get on the family PC for:
MSN Messenger! say 15% but often at the say time as homework (try as I might to discourage it!)
Homework: Mostly Word, some Excel and occasional rest of MS Office with lots of browsing. Around 30% for these.
Work: Word, Excel and MS Explorer browsing. Around 20% or less if I can get away with it.
Games: Medium level not generally DX9, say 10%
DVD Watching: say 15%
Other: ie looking at photos, photo editing, MS Publisher & various, say 10%
Following 2 years:
Doubtless it will get highjacked by my daughter off to Uni for an earth science degree.
