Hello,
I am currently building a video.. but after dragging scenes onto script. My XPS is lagging bad... In about 10 minutes it locks up. The program just stops responding. Everything else runs great especially games. but I have no clue why. Im currently deployed in Iraq. So, I cant just go to certain forums..Its blocked. I actuall want to see if their is an update for WMMaker, but Microsoft download site is blocked. Thanks.

My system set up is
2gig CPU Could it be this running at 798 clocked down to centr
2gigs of RAM
120 HD@ 5400RPM Could it be my hardrive, never had a HD below 7200RPM I have around 74 gigs available. HMMM

I don't think it's a problem with your CPU, if it was downclocking then it would simply be slower, not locking up though. I've done video editing on my pentium-m 1.1Ghz ULV and never had any problems.

It's not your hard drive either, I've done movie making with 60 and 80GB 5400rpm drives without a problem at all.

Given games work fine I'm not sure what to suggest - I would keep an eye on your ram usage, Moviemaker seems very gutsy with the ram even though you have 2GB ram it might be leaking ram horrendously and causing a problem. It's not the most stable of programs, I have had it crash a few times on me but usually when I've been using it for a few hours, not as short as ten minutes.

There doesn't look to be any updates for moviemaker, the last entry on the MS site is in 2004 for moviemaker 2.1 which comes with SP2 it seems.

I'd also have a look at your eventlogs, see if something is being logged when Moviemaker locks up.
