It seems like the heat problem is resolved. The hit & miss whine problem also seems to have been fixed. No idea if the x1600 is still heavily underclocked but I'm pretty sure we will know soon enough.

I have not seen that many post on this forum about the 17" MBP as it relates to the noise problems, so I am assuming that it is not a issue anymore.

I am guessing that by default the GPU will be underclocked, I have heard that the Sony Laptops have also been underclocked as well.

I also heard, but I have not actually see this yet, but the CPU is not sodered on like the 15.4 MBP.

either way its an amazing laptop

i just bought MBP 15" with serial number 8614XXXX
supposed to be the latest revision, and i have no problems at all :P
no whinning and after running full load for a bout 3 hours, the MBP just barelly warm :P
