should i get 2 gigs of ram, or 2GHz processor(dual core)?

i cant decide which one i should get. both are a $200 upgrade from the option under them. i would think the 2GHz processor would be better, because you dont have the option of matching the RAM to the GHz (667MHz). any ideas on what i should do?

The processor all the way.

The RAM is much easier to upgrade later on.

Get the processor, ram is cheaper from newegg!

i also think the 2GHz processor is better. Plus it will be cheaper if you get the ram upgrate somewhere else, should you need it.

thats what i was thinking too. but then im also trying to get the $750 off coupon. should i get both, and get a worse hard drive, then upgrade that later?

i personally think that might be better, cause i would want a 7200rpm 100GB hard drive. i dont know, its all just a thought right now, cause i wont be getting the laptop til later this month hopefully

Hard drive space > small CPU speed upgrade. Seriously, it's unlikely that you'll notice the CPU speed bump other than in benchmarks.

chip now ram later!

well, i found a cheaper option. that would be to get both the ram and the cpu, but get a lower HD. then buy a newer one from newegg. but i have a quick question. could someone point out what each of the compartments are on the bottom of the laptop (its a dell e1705, but i figured it would be the same)

Good slogan!

Dude, get the bare bones for all the krap you can upgrade later on, and put your money into things like the best CPU, GPU, Screen, etc.
It's a no-brainer!

BUT...
Ram will get cheaper, but not nearly as fast as high capacity & high performance hard drives drop in price.
So if you're trying to max out your bux, and you have to spend "X" amount in order to be eliganble for a coupon or something, then I would leave the hard drive and the ROM drive bare bones, and upgrade them later.
For example, you can get a NEC 6550A DVD-RW on Ebay (New) for 1/2 what Dell will charge. -Pretty much the same with a Seagate 120GB 7200RPM HDD, too.

where did u find a 120GB 7200rpm hard drive? the best i could find was a 100GB. besides...i want to keep the dell media, and all that stuff, i just dont want to bloatware. (basically i just want keep everything on the hard drive except the bloatware, so getting a big hard drive now would be easier for that. sorry if thats hard to understand)

Actually, I have not seen one. I just assumed that they made one.
I myself just purchased a 120GB 5400RPM drive for my 9200. But then, I wasn't really searching for a faster RPM model.
