Getting read of headphone hiss from integrated sound? Bose Triport headphones.

I just got some Bose Triports yesterday and I'm loving them on my desktop with an X-fi Extrememusic, but my M170's integrated sound has a constant background hiss that's quite noticable at higher volumes with the headphones.

Is there a way to eliminate this or do I have to get the Audigy 2 ZS, or whatever the mobile one is?

Thanks.

Im pretty sure your not going to get rid of it using just the intergrated sigmatel chip. It isnt exactly a high end component.

Im sure someone (hopefully) with an Audigy 2zs PCMCIA card will chime in and let you know if it makes a difference in background white noise.

Upgrading to the Audigy2 ZS PCMCIA card will definately help with the background hiss problem.

(yes I do own the ZS).

It's the headphones , not really, but Bose headphones are terrible and the integrated card causes hiss. The better the headphone the more noticable it will be.

lol, I love these things. There's no hiss with my X-fi.

I guess i'll pick up a ZS eventually.

Yea my Sony Fontopia headphones had those background hisses as well when connected to the piece of crap integreted sound card , when connecting the headphones to the audigy 2 ZS notebook however the problem is solved... so yea the ZS is highly recommended

The hiss gets quieter if the impedance rating of the headphones are higher. Higher quality headphones usually have higher impedance (harder to drive).

Pick up a volume attenuator like this http://earphonesolutions.com/shpaleatfors.html

It adds resitance and will get rid of the hiss. You can pick one up cheap at radioshack probably.
