Z70va Fan speed control

I've had Ubuntu breezy, pclinuxos minime .93, Various levels of Ubuntu Dapper, and I'm about to install Kubuntu dapper flight 7. In all of these, I am able to get cpu speed stepping and the fglrx drivers working.

This gets the cpu fan to quiet down, but leaves the fan for the video card spinning all the time once the laptop is on for a few minutes. In windows XP I have the gpu underclocked most of the time unless I'm gaming and I use nhc and speedfan to keep everything cool and quiet. I'm having problems getting similar functionality in linux.

I've had some trouble configuring lm_sensors and in the latest attempt I was left with a laggy system and fans running at full blast in Ubuntu Dapper.

Is there any solution to underclock the x700 in the z70va under linux, and/or at least control the minimum and maximum fan speeds for both the cpu and gpu?

I am getting minimi 0.93 in 0.92 everything worked just fine right away but I wodnloaded the nvidia 0.92 you should get the ati version.

Go to pclinuxos forum and see there, they should help you easiliy.

I just hope my nvidia will work with mini fine.

FAN noise is a huge turndown for me when I cant get it to worok. Ubuntu nvidia driver installation is a nightmare for me.

I am a noob,

So, stay with PClinuxOS. Get 0.92 or 0.93 and downlaod the drivers.

Thanks, I like pclinusos too, but I'm really looking for a way to directly control the fan speed limits like speedfan for linux. If someone else has had luck with controlling the fan speeds of the z70va under linux please give me some pointers!

My GPU fan is superloud under kubuntu! I've got all the drivers working, but I haven't got lm_sensors up and running as I'm waiting hopeful for some relavant guidance.

This is a really frustrating issue, as lm-sensors seems to completely break kubuntu or ubuntu, and the fancontrol and pwmconfig commands appear to be missing from the latest version of pclinuxos.

I think I might wait for the full pclinuxos .93, as I don't have the time to search for things I need that aren't in minime.
