Just how far can you use the 5680's wireless card from?

One of my good friends is buying a 5680, and needs to access a wireless network in another warehouse about 500ft away. I have had good experiences with mine, and since the antenna goes up the side of the screen casing(right?), Will he be able to access that? If not, is there an extender he can buy to connect? He's going to be accessing stuff from a shared drive on the network as well as surfing the net.

I could have sworn I had a faint signal from mine 5 miles away.

I am not sure about the distance on the internal card, but the normal cards normally don't go as far as you are shooting for.

As far as an extender goes, you'd have to have an external card with a "pigtail" hookup on it for an antenna. Orinoco makes some kickass cards with the pigtail hookup.

I doubt it.
when wardriving i can normally only get a solid connection fairly close to the buildings

Wow... 500 feet. You'd need a wireless bridge to do that probably, and those aren't cheap. Though I could be wrong on that.
But a wireless nic doing 500 feet... Unheard of on my end.

from where you are to the trash can these prism cards are junk
can i get a driver update?... well nevermind even with version 1,000,000 drivers they would prolly still suck surf the net and find a real wifi card

well i got my 5680 running on the top floor of my house, and i get about 7 different wireless connections available (my neighbors setups i guess) well one of them is named for a family who lives about 4 houses down and it's a strong signal, but thats only about 100 feet away............and no i dont go on their networks (although i never mention it to them in passing) Immanuel Kant says im moral still.
