The G80 should eat it bcuz it will be a newer generation card with DX10.
But isn't F.E.A.R. writting for directx 9.0c or whatever? One of the huge things about DX10 will be that is has no common code with previous versions of DX making it that much better*. So in order to run any game that require DX10 it will have to emulate. In my experience emulators cause performance decrease. Though if the card is fast enough this reduction i nperformance won't be noticable, it will still be an emulation. *Ever version of DX to date has had code written into it to allow it to work natively with games using previous versions of DX. This has caused tons of bloat that actually decreased performance for the newest verstion. M$ decided to leave this idiology behind and create DX10 without any considerations for previous versions. Til recentely I didn't even know it would emulate it, but I guess it makes sense that they would find a way. It will not be like running it natively though like previous versions did.

I thought the M1710 had a better screen than the standard inspirons?

It does, but higher resolution = stress on your video card so...

i upgraded to 2 gigs of ram and it COMPLETELY fixed the studdering problem. The ingame bench mark will not be effected because that is precached, but you will see in certain benchmarks that the game needs more than 1 gig ram, and if you have only 1 gig, then it will go from your harddrive. The upgrade to 2 gig fixed everything on my m1710. I also "only" got 533mhz OCZ ram and it just is awesome. Question though.....how do i force native resolution? I can only get 1600 by 1200.

This is a good place for widescreen questions. They will have you edit a file and select whatever resolution you want. Worked fine for me. Widescreen Gaming Forum Click on "Master Game List" then find your game...Direct Link for FEAR

M170 7800gtx 2gb
FEAR runs smooth @ 1600 x 1200 with everything max or on EXCEPT AA. Turn off AA and the game should run smoothly as when I turn AA on I get very low frame rate.
Is there a way to run this game at 1920 x 1200?? The largest res available to me on options is 1600 x 1200.

C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Documents\\Monolith Productions\\Fear

open .cfg file with notepad and set the desired resolution
