Questions about the FX7

Thread Starter
Just a few collected questions about my upcoming FX7 functionality.

Questions:
1. Does it have S-Video in and out?
If “No,” then what is a good option for capturing Hi8 video, etc...?
2. How can I transfer all my data from my current computer to my new one? I have a drive full of content I need to keep. What brand is the “External 250GB 7200rpm USB 2.0 Hard Drive w/ USB Cable”? Is this a reputable backup option?
3. How quiet is it?
4. RAID (0)
a. Since I’m not getting an OS installed (I’ll be installing it independently),
will I have any troubles getting the RAID to work?
b. Is there a special process I will have to do with my OS on installation?
c. Any other RAID concerns or issues or processes to be aware of?

Here's what I'm looking at so far:

Glad that you got your first answer. I will leave some of the more specific FX7 questions to those who have actually received them.

There are several ways of moving your data. The way I do mine is a bit more pathetic, but part of how I do my backups. I know my data directories or specific program directories that are important to me. So my backup to another drive (actually two drives in case of one failing) includes those directories, my documents directory, my desktop, etc. When I set up the new system - I just install the software, as needed, and then copy my stuff over.

There are some programs for data migration and Microsoft has a "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" under accessories that assists in this effort - but I am unsure how these work - I do it the old fashion way.

Good luck!

Good luck!

But physically how do you copy from say one laptop to another?

I do this a number of ways. First - I have about six computers in the house and so there is definitely space someone to copying files to - namely my desktop gaming system that has an extra drive for backing up data from the other computers. The second way is I have a portable USB drive (like what you are looking at getting) to copy the data over.

Once I have it, I just basically setup the new system and then copy the data back (again, either over the network or by the USB drive). The automated solutions may be faster and grab things I don't (like registry entries). But my way has been the way I have done it since my old BBS days - and keeps me happy.
