BSOD w/Iomega Floppy Drive w/ card reader

I just bought a combination floppy drive and 7-in-1 card reader from Iomega. I loaded the software from the CD and the install went just fine. I then attached the USB cable to the eMachines M5310 Laptop USB port on the back of the computer. The icon appeared in the task bar stating that new hardware was found and the computer started loading the drivers for the floppy drive and the card reader. Before everything was completed, I get the BSOD and the computer reboots and does this every time that it loads the drivers when the USB cable is attached to the computer. The BSOD flashes so quickly that I can't read what has happened. I have tried hitting the PAUSE key but the screen still goes away before I can read the screen. I have gone out to the Iomega website and downloaded the driver that they have for WINXP SP2 and it does the same thing. I have gone into the event log and found where the dump files are located but am unable to read the file because I don't know what program to use to read the dump files. I have sent the dump files to Iomega and they say that they can not read the dmp files and to send them the dump files in another file format. Any help would be appreciated in resolving the driver problem and also what program to use for the dump files.
I had tried a different card reader from a different manufacturer several months ago and had the same problem with the BSOD.

sounded like u r having conflict between drivers. u mentioned that u installed/tried many different cards before. Sometimes previous installations left entries in registry that caused hiccups for subsequent attempts to load new ones.

I would remove/un-install the drivers, do a thorough registry cleaning. On XP, i would let it chose the matchable driver for the device BEFORE getting the original drivers.

I tried attaching the USB floppy/card reader and the system recognized the peripheral and started loading the necessary Windows drivers for the card reader but then it got to the floppy drive and loaded the Windows Citizen floppy drive and that is when I get the BSOD. Once I uninstall the floppy drive driver from the control panel, I receive an application error about the Synaptic Touch Pad sys file from Microsoft help. It seems that there is a problem with the Synaptic driver and the driver for the Citizen floppy drive driver. Any ideas to get this resolved? I am still running the original BIOS. Due you think that updating the BIOS would do any good? If so, where would I get the newest BIOS and how would I flash my bios since I do not have a floppy drive, only a DVD/CD? The is nothing on the eMachines website that I can find about a new BIOS for this system.
Does anyone know of a program that can be used to open a dmp file?

u r getting close. I recommend uninstall/re-install the touch pad. Synaptic has the latest driver at http://www.synaptics.com/support/drive.cfm.
Would u tell me what is the current bios version on ur system?
