9300 Warranty question - original software load

I have an i9300 and have installed XP Pro with the appropriate service packs. I just extended my warranty for an additional 2 years.

My problem is this: When I received my laptop (used) I never received an OS system disk (with bloatware) with the unit. If I ever need warranty service on my unit I must load the original system software (which I cannot do since I do not have the disk(s)). I have heard that Dell stopped including OS disks with their units sometime in the recent past. If this were true then I am not alone in my predicament.

What do others do in this situation? Is is possible to get a copy of the original restore disks for the i9300? If so, where?

Thanks ...

Why would you have to load the original systm software for warranty service?

OS wont have any bearing on your warranty. If you want your discs, just contact Dell (Usually chat is faster) and tell them that your restore partition wont reload your OS. They will overnight your discs to you for free.

Also, The reinstall OS dosent have bloatware, its all the extra discs they send that will fill ya up.

I am sorry to report that I have had warranty issues with both Dell and HP in the last 2 years and BOTH times I was told that they would not work/warranty my unit if I had installed a different OS (I had reformatted/deleted their bloated XP Home and bloatware and installed XP Pro). I was told both times that I had to return the unit to it's original factiry software load prior to them being able to help me.

I wish that were true. I will contact Dell about the discs ... thanks.
