Alienware Financing - Do I have to wait to order? - Page 2

I am still up in the air as to exactly which 51m I will get but I am leaning towards a beefed-up Enthusiast model (or if your prefer, a watered-down Extreme model ). The one thing I have not decided upon is if I should go with the 1600x1200 screen or the 1680x1050. I realize that the 1600x1200 is more standardized but it is a good chunck of $$ more. I have a few different versions saved in my shopping cart until I decide what to do.

I'll be returning my signed paperwork tomorrow but I guess they won't get it until Monday with the weekend coming up. Ah well.... the begining of the waiting game I suppose. I guess thats just part of the whole Alienware experience

Finally, got it, signed it.. looked all around for an envelope to send it back in and a plastic bag sleeve thing to put the DHL shipping label in. Good thing I was at work and had access to that stuff! You think they would send you everything to return it to them too...

Well I guess I could have packed the single sheet in a giant box filled wtih rocks and use their prepaid label...

I ordered the 15.4" screen. For one, I don't need to spend the extra jack, and I have heard probs with ghosting on the 16.1 due to the manufacturer being Hitachi. Dell forums list tons of people sending systems back because of the slow refresh or whatever problem of the Hitachi displays. I am "using" a Dell 8600 now with a 15.4 and I like it. I actually like the fact that the resolution on the AW 15.4 is lower, so you can run in the native res. and have clear images and not go blind with the higher res. reading web pages. Even though I am used to the high res, I think it will be better. I orderd the Dell originally with the WSXGA+ but changed (and paid more ) for the WUXGA to avoid getting a Hitichi display - as were shipping in the
WSXGA's. Just my opinion. I see most people seem to spring for the 16.1 but not me.

Ah! So you are saying that if I am mainly concerned with ghosting then I should definitely go for the 15.4" screen. Does anyone happen to know the manufacturer and response time of the 15.4" screen?

Well I guess I don't have to worry about anything for a few weeks as I just cancelled my order (temporarily) until the ATI 9700 comes out. They said they would call me when it was available and I could reorder - could be a month, could be less. I am anxiously awaiting. Hopefully the 6 months same as cash deal will still be going on. In either case, I have the financing finished. Who knows.. maybe there will be a price drop with the Dell annoncement I hope I don't start a wave of order cancellations. I figure its soooo close to the release of the 9700 that I can wait a few more weeks. Its not like its seveal months away.. it here NOW practially! I am glad i have the patience!

6 months same as cash applies to orders placed before the end of February.

Unless they are like going to be pushed more into acting like Dell and come up with a new set of promos every week. These are strange times now that one of the big boys are in the gaming market.
Its really not that big of a deal if I don't get it. I have other means... I just figure, I want to get the system I will be the most happy with at the time.
