M60 flimsy construction?

Hi everyone,

I just got my M60 a couple days ago and I noticed a couple things that didn't fit the description.

1- the left armrest seems flimsy as it squeeks slightly when i rest my arm
2- the touchpad has a half second latency before the cursor moves
3- the screen as dark lower corners and bright lower edge
4- LCD has a LOT of ghosting making it unuseable for editing and 3D
5- LCD has poor contrast and very blue colors that are not very saturated

basically in term of construction quality and screen it doesn't compare my old Toshiba 5105 which for a $3100 professional laptop is a shame.

So I was wondering if I got a Lemon I needed to exchange or if they were made this way.

1. Most Dell laptops feel this way the Dell lines have stronger Frame constructions than most other companies but a poor shell
2.Does this occur with the pointer as well?
3.You can call to get the screen replaced if it bothers you
4.Define a lot of ghosting? if you just switched over from a CRT monitor or a high quality desktop lcd then you will definetly notice ghosting by laptop standards dell screens exceed many others.
5.You can fix that with internal color editing panel in Display properties and if its to washed out use Digital Vibrance its one of th emany benefits of using Nvidia's pride and joy video card

1- I'm surprised a Lattitude of this price feels so cheap, can anything be done to improve the feel of sturdiness here ?
2- seems to although the stick is inherently laggy
3- just emailed them, which screen brand do you recommend ? (from the analysis I read I probably have a hitashi)
4- lot as in unuseable for editing and 3D animation, so much ghosting that trailing takes over the entire image.
5- even with color calibration i don't come anywhere near the neutrality of my toshiba 5105.

1.Thats as good as it gets you should see how it holds up froma fall VERY well
2.Very unusual.
3.This problem is inherrit with SHARP not hitachi. Hitachi is famous for its poor response rates you would be the first i heard about having this with a hitachi.
4.I wasnt even aware of Hitachi WUXGA screens if this is the case you definetly need it replaced.
5.Look for Digital Vibrance. Its a setting that comes under the nview control tab turn it up unfortunetly this is the best you will be able to do and thank god you didnt get the Radeon 9600 you would have seen washed out colors across the board

1- flimsiness: I can get used to it I guess
2- touchpad lag: yes and it does it on my friend's 8500 so it probably is by design
3- Yes it was a Hitachi, I got it replaced by a samsung that has a decent response rate by very poor viewwing angle - much lower than my 2 years old CASV toshiba - and horrible bluish tint as well as low contrast (the blacks are grey)
Which lcd brand do you recommend ? (WSXGA+)
5- Digital vibrance doesn't compensate for poor contrast ratio.

I try one last screen change and then it's a return. I'll wait for the new toshiba.
