Compatible Hard Drives for T60 HD Adapter

Does anybody know which SATA hard drives are compatible with the serial hard drive bay adapter for the T60? The information sheet for the adapter only lists Hitachi and Toshiba hard drives, but I would rather buy a 120 GB Seagate Momentus HD.

It stands to reason that any 2.5 SATA hard drive would be compatible, but I heard stories that the Thinkpads only work with some selected hard drives.

Any help would be appreciated.

Na, any 2.5 sata is fine. The sucky thing is that it will be converted to run as pata (standard ide) so you wont see the better performance of your primary drive.

What you heard and are refering to is some older Hitachi drives that would give an error in the T4x series thinkpads. This was later fixed with a firmware upgrade.

Let me know how that adapter works out for you, im looking to get one myself.

Thanks for the informative reply. I will let you know how the adapter works, although I might wait with my purchase until next month for the 160 GB Seagate SATA HDs to come out.

yeah, i would like a 160 also. It would be nice to pile all the movies and mp3s on that drive to take on the road.
