Hello Guys,

I am new here.

Ok the problem is I have a M30 Toshiba Satellite I have had it for about 3 yrs now I have never had a problem with it till now. Just the other day I took it out of the bag and pressed the pwr button and thing wouldnt turn on.

All I saw was the led flashing at the front of the laptop. it flashes 8 blinks it could be some error code or something. 1 long 1 short 1 long 1 short 1 long 1 short 1 long 1 short and then pause and then starts over again. a total of 8 flashes/cycle.

I think this has something to do with the problem so i thought i will consult the experts( u guys). So if any1 knows what the problem is and whats the solution plz tell me.

Thank you.

Thats Hex code. It returnes an error massage. So if you transform it from binary to hex you will find out the error code and search upon it.
I 'm not sure but long=1 and short=0. There are at least 2 threads in the Toshiba section about this. Search for them. They were in the last 1 year ( ).
(don't want to make you sad but usually the motherboard's power supply part is the problem and needs replacement)

Good luck.

Alright update from the underground. I dissassembled my laptop its an M30 I reset the battery by plugging it out 4 a few seconds and then putting it back in. I reassembled and put it all back together and turned it 2 power on still the same problem mayb might have 2 buy a new CMOS battery???

but i still reckon my worst fears will come true to replace the mobo.

I din't think it is the CMOS battery. Is it the same on AC and on battery?

Yeh, I will try to ring a toshiba service centre in the next week and ill see if i can shipon any info as to what it is because on the toshiba manual it says the problem is
55h
C5V voltage is not more than 4.50V when the computer supports CV and is booting up.
which i dont understand I need some to explain.

It means there is something wrong with the output of the power supply circuitry.

You might try to search ebay for a new mobo. Who know for that money you might find one with broken LCD and no HDD or something but the rest is OK.

Did they tell you what the problem was with the motherboard? Most repair facilities like to change the motherboard for even sminor problems, while there are others that will actually get in there and do some soldering on the mobo. If there's something htat is lose or replacable on the mobo, maybe you could find somebody that would be able to fix it for alot less (like maybe $100).

But other than that, I'd also suggest looking on ebay for a replacement mobo. Heck, I got the whole latpop in my sig for $420 on ebay without a harddrive.
