Your right so far im seeing 10-20% increases compared to previous core.

www.tomshardware.com show sa good comparison. regarding the core i emailed ATI and there response was of course a revolutionary new design to allow for cooler and faster operations using there fandangled Low-K processing. However upon reviewing everything i found that this "new" core seems to share newarly every feature of the 9600 and since new cores usually integrate new features i can see no other reason as to why anyone would think this is a redesigned core

If it brings down the price of the 128 MB 9600 Pro Turbo... then I'm all for it. I wonder if the 9700 will become an option soon in Dells and if so, will the 9600 Pro Turbo still be available at a reduced price?

Once the 9700 comes out i will consider purchasing one and upgrading then returning it for pictures and benchmarks.

New cores dont mean new features - it means NEW CORE

They went from a 0.15 to a 0.13 micron processing facility for the radeon 9800 and they are using the same facility for the new mobility cards as well.

Integrating Low-K is not easy...its an entirely new process that has to be started from scratch.

dell machina what machine do you have? the 9700 and 9800 will only fit the 9100 and xps.

we wont know for sure if it wont fit in the 8600 or not only time will tell if it is a new formfactor then i guess its too bad but im banking on dells new bios updating new video adapters will hold to some degree a radeon 9700 around the corner for me! hey that rhymes...

Im pretty sure Dell will have the Radeon 9700 as quick as anybody else. I cant see why they would lag behind the rest of the community and its quite obvious that they have something going between them and ATi which is a good thing.

From what I can see on the screen I think the 32MB 5200 go looks better than the 64MB Radeon 9000 did on my 5660. I can play COD with no problems here...maybe not the same framerate but the quality of the textures etc. is definitely better with the nVidia card...strange?? believe it

Lessee...I wanna see side by side benches between the Radeon 9700 and the nVidia 5700 go -> I will prefer whichever card kicks the other one's butt...

simple - im no fanboy - I want the best

Why, the current Nvidia line is horrible. Granted I am looking forward to April/May when news of the next generation of cards will probably be released. Then I'll consider Nvidia again.

By the way, is the mobility 5700 out yet? I've seen "reviews," but no products carrying it yet. Unfortunately, it still seems to suffer deficiencies in performance. Better, but still not acceptable. Nvidia, please make a good card again, I'm begging you.

With the 9600 being about a 20% increase over the my 5650 and the 9700 being 30% better than the 9600 then an upgrade would be a good thing in my case ...(If its available for the 8600)

as of now the 128MB 9700 pro and the 256MB 9800 pro are only available on the XPS/9100. however, i have heard that they were testing geforcefx go 5750 in a limited number of 8600

The mobility 9700 is not even near 30% increase, if you look at these benchmarks, but it's much better than the 5650go.

5750? maybe for testing only i doubt it will ever see the light of day for a 8600 maybe the XPS since its core audience is gamers.

There has yet to be a Retail review of a 5700 because it hasnt won any Design Wins but there are a few coming. Based off the desktop counter parts the 5700 seems like a clear winner because of its radical new deisign. To be fair the M11 is just a "cooler" and faster version of the M10 nothing radical but the jump from 5650 to the 5700 is clearly a new core.

And the supporting docs??

I am VERY interested in seeing this paper that shows that the 9700 is not a new core when I have made all the points that so clearly point to the fact that this IS a new core.

And I would also like to see just how radical this new nVidia card is - hopefully it trumps ATi because I believe that the quality of the textures as put out by nVidia is sweeter to look at than the quality put out by the ATi cards...
