power adapters

so i've come across a couple spare adapters for thinkpads. I, as well as a friend, both currently have t42s. the adapters for these are 16 volts and 4.5 amps. the spare adapters i've come across are rated at 16 volts and 3.32 amps. would it be possible to use these spare adapters with the t42, or would they not meet the minimal power usage standard for these laptops?

I think those were used with the 600e.

I used them successfully with my T42P

You can use them as long as you are on light loads. They don't offer enough current to keep the machine running reliably if you load a heavy software.
