Macbook G5 13" or Powerbook G4 12"

I'm looking for a small laptop and I don't know which laptop to get (Macbook 13" or the Powerbook 12"). I like the Macbook because it's core duo and i like the powerbook 12" because it's titanium. Both are within my price range (~1000).

Can someone give me the pros and cons? and your humble opinion. thanks

FYI: I'm a student and I mostly do internet surfing, match dvds, play some games (counterstrike, starcraft), word documents, powerpoint, etc.

If gaming is a big deal for you, then you'd have to go with a macbook since it can dual boot into Windows XP since its using an intel chip. The powerbook is still using a powerpc chip.

Well, if you are going to game, the MB is a better choice because of boot camp. Plus, it is new, widescreen, and has an intel chip, so that is what I would go for. If you get the powerbook you'll be taking a step back. If you don't run any intensive apps such as photoshop, then the MB would be the best choice.

Also, it isn't a G5, it's an intel core duo.

so if i'm running apps such as photoshop and macromedia, the new macbook isn't suitable?

Photoshop and macromedia should run great. Don't buy the PowerBook, its now old technology. The G4 is past its prime, they're not joking when they say the MacBook is 5x faster than it's previous G4 counterpart.

Interesting-- the powerbook and ibook have disappeared altogether from apple's website store. Typing in apple.com/either one redirects you to the macbook page.

I guess the shift to intel is nearly complete, the only one left is their flagship Powermac (?), and possibly a mid-range desktop w/o a built in LCD as well???

I was just at the Apple website and the iBook is still available. I was on an education site though. University that I work at. I assume that Amazon.com would still carry iBooks.

well, since these apps are not univeral, it'll run using rosetta, which requires emulation which reduces performance. But, if you install boot camp and install PS for Windows, then it will run super fast.
