Ok, I am having some screen freeze ups during games. it freezes for about 1 second every 1 - 2 minutes. Quite annoying...

What program can I run to monitor temps on an 8890?

Thanks

I disabled the service, and will give it a try, and let you know the outcome!
Any ideas on a temp Monitoring software? I have seen one for the 5660 but I get an error when I run it...

Thanks for the input!

Well, after about an hour of testing, same thing...

The game is Americas Army, and once in game, every minute or 2, the screen freezes for about 1 second. then back to playing.
I get about 80 FPS during the game, less then 175 ping, no packet loss.

I am at a total loss here....

HELP PLEASE!!!!

Is it that game only?

Try a different game. Some of the servers on America's Army have serious lag - even with a really low ping (I get lag even with my 35 ping). I think your problem is just the servers. And the newer maps tend to have less "good" servers up and running.

Well, I tried the old pipeline... Same issues.

The only other game I have installed is WOLF ET... I will try that.. But I think that is OpenGL, not directX so not really apples to apples....

I will let you know the outcome

Nope, same thing on Wolf ET. Actually, the screen freezes more often in Wolf, than in Americas Army.

I tried updating to the latest Omega drivers, that didnt help either....

HELP!!!!

PLEASE

try this. open up your task manager, and goto the process list (make sure you check show processes from all users). wait and see if you can spot any processes spiking to half or full CPU usage. The one process i found was spiking to half CPU usage (full utilization for my HT) and it caused about a second lag on my games as well. it was also doing it while i was not playing games, although i didn't notice it in normal windows operation.

there are still issues with enemy territory... it says so in the write up for the latest drivers...

have to wait till the next one to play...

Update

No good news though...

I have tried the latest drivers, Americas Army tweaks, turning resolution up and down, different maps, ETC...

I have tried everything..

Nothing has improved, and lessened the screen freezes.

I am really getting frustrated here.

I am sure its not lag. I watch my ping the whole time, I have watched my CPU utilization, no Major spikes.

I am still thinking it may be heat. Right above my mouse pad, on the laptop.
It is pretty HOT. I assume the CPU is below that...

Is there a CPU/Memory/Video card Temp software that I can download somewhere?

OR should I call Sager?

Or, (Other Ideas)

Thanks

the cpu is (if im not mistaked) more closer to under the power button. have you tried idling with the task manager open watching all the processes to see if any spike? i also posted a link to a post with the temp monitoring software and instructions in my first post. here it is again: http://talknotebooks.com/showthread....4673#post84673

Ok, got the software... I had downloaded it before, and it wouldnt run..
This time, I read the whole post...

Got the software running. 53 degrees at idle. 69 during game play...

No preocess' spiking my CPU.
I even uninstalled Norton AV today, and some other apps. To see if that helped.

Nope...

I am thinking of doing a clean install. But I dont have the time to do it.
It takes me about 8 hours to get it back up to where I have all apps in and config'd.....

I do appreciate the input from you folks out there....

Any more would be welcome!

THanks again

those temps arent TOO bad, not for a laptop with those specs at least. that is getting pretty hot though.

if ur curious and not fraid of opening up ur cpu compartment and removing the heatsink, then maybe you could take a look too see if there is any buildup. BUT be careful, i'm not sure if this voids any warranty on it!

I have only had the system for 3 months, so I cant believe there is to much build up....

Thanks for the input!!!!

Do you mean post? Or thread? That's a pretty HUGE thread and I'm curious to see what my temps are. I'll download and install when I get home - but any tips on known problems getting it to work would be appreciated

If you haven't figured it out already, I'm lazy and don't wanna read that whole thread

There are actually 2 files to download. make sure you download both, install both, and reboot. Then run the time program....

Hope this helps
