Does anyone know, on the site here, the used to be a FULL 8890 manual to be downloaded in PDF format, where that is?

I had downloaded it, and cannot find it now...

[quote=DarphBobo]Ok, got the software... I had downloaded it before, and it wouldnt run..
This time, I read the whole post...
Got the software running. 53 degrees at idle. 69 during game play.../QUOTE]

Those temperatures seem a little high to me. But then again you are cooking a 3.2 and mine is only a 3.0 P4. Maybe that explains why my system idles between 44-54 and never went above 57 during gameplay.

I have a 3.0 P4 too, and using Henriks app, my system idles around 54-55 and maxes out around 62 (playing America's Army). That's higher than yours, Hanko, but still doesn't seem too bad.

EDIT: I haven't yet applied AS5 to my heatsink, but will do soon and let you know if there's any change.

Temp update

Idle, or just surfing. 45 degree's

After cleaning out the heatsink.
There was some dust. but not alot...

Still having screen freezes during gaming. May have to reinstall OS to see if thats the issue.
But would rather not...

More updates, as they come

Pyrobob83, when i cleaned my heatsink, i put on some regular arctic silver (not sure the version) after scraping off all the toasted heatpad. I never used the temp monitor. but i can definately say my fans run a lot less than they ever used too. i'm sure it helps a bit at least.

I've been trying to download that second app for a while (the library that Henrik is using) and found the problem: That file just will NOT download properly via Mozilla!

Eventually brought up this thread in IE and got the files. Argh.

Thanks for that. I will get around to it eventually. I'm wondering whether it's worth lapping my heatsink though - and if I do, whether it's worth buying some glass to do it on. Any thoughts?

i'd say thats a bit overkill for a laptop. i tried it once on my desktop heatsink. i'ts just way too much tedious work and hard to do it right for not even a degree of temp difference.

Quick update. I finally got around to AS5ing my 8890 - I didn't bother lapping the heatsink and the results are pretty sweet. Using Henriks app, my system now idles between 44 and 54 (fans come on at 54 and go off at 44) & maxes out at 57 (again playing AA). Thanks Henrik for such a sweet app! And I'll agree with the others of you who said ASing your machine is well worth-while.

Next 8890 mod.... fan quieting!

Update?
Well, havent found the time to re-do the OS.
Am still having issues with game freezes.
It is definatly NOT lag.
I tried a test of downloading while playing. And it LAGS, not freezes like this
is doing. Hopefully, and Format and reinstall of the OS will fix things.

Another update when I get to it. Probably later this week!!

Have you installed http://www.edi-logistik.se/tvichw50.zip ??? And don't forget, you have to turn off acpiec and reboot before it'll work.

there is another utility called MobileMeter which should work for Clevos (Sagers) too and which is much easier to handle, since it doesn't need any driver installation. - You may want to search after some english localized version of it... since I'll point you here to it's usual origins only:

tried it, doesnt support cpu temps on my 8887. VERY cool battery info utility though. tells me why i get such poor battery performance. 70% wear!

Thanks man

I've been looking for a temperature monitor and mobilemeter works perfectly on my 8890.

Where'd you go to find it? I could only find Japanese stuff.
