so does that mean if you wanna use Arctic Silver you have to put it on the memory chips also?? that cant be right?

The memory chip pads dont get stuck to the heatsink or anything do they? Would it be easy to take it back off once it's been seated and screwed down?

I'm not sure. I'll tell you after I get things together, and after I see what they're using for thermal gunk. I suspect it's relatively easy to clean off if you have the right stuff. I bought cleaning stuff that AS makes. I don't think you have to use arctic silver on everything if you use it on some. You just don't clean the other stuff off. Krista

I did not use AC5 on the GPU memory chips. There are thermal pads for memory chips on heatsink and I left them there. The thermal pads are thicker and I suspect that the chips do not contact the heatsink directly. Typically thermal pads retain their shape as long as they are cool. I would never attempt to work with a cooler that utilizes thermal pads until everything has cooled off completely. There are places to buy thermal pads as well is needed.

I do wish there was a better option for cooling the memory chips but without knowing how big the space is between heat sink and chips it would be pretty hard to figure out.

Where did you get the 9-cell battery for the s96j? I've heard it hasn't been released yet (which is a bizarre concept, a release date for a battery). Powernotebooks.com told me they don't exist yet, maybe in a month.

I got my 9 cell from buy.com:
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...7&loc=101&sp=1
It was $95 with free shipping (it looks like they no longer do free shipping).

It is technically a Z62F battery but it works great in my S96j. It looks like it is sold out there now. Do a froogle search for "NG51B2000".

I also responded to your PM.
