I am THAT close to pulling the trigger on an 8600 refurb.... but something, SOMETHING is keeping me from doing it. Driving me INSANE!
Ok a little vauge? Perhaps you can tell us what it is and maybe some 8600 owner's can console you and hold your hand through the process.

I don't need my hand held. 1. I hate making certain decisions, and 2. I am a cheap ass

Just personal opinion but I think warranties are pretty much useless. The accadential protection warranty might be worthwhile. But if you read the statistics electronics that fail within the first month 90% of the time. Also there are so many things that are no covered under warranty. And being a technical genius I've taken apart all of my laptops and I'm willing to bet that voids my warranty.

Yeah, I like to get into stuff myself, but I would never tell them that I did it of course

Just found another one with almost the same specs except it has a 4X DVD burner and a WSXGA+ for about $1300 with the 1 year

I don't think you can get the Accidental Ins (Idiot insurance) WITHOUT th Extended warranty..........I agree ex warranties are a waste to all but a handful of users. I think you can buy the other type at numourous websites if you do a search.

Insure yourself.....

What do you mean insure yourself Tombo? What kinda insurance is this?

I think I am going to stop posting about all this... I think people are getting annoyed... sorry
post #15 of 37
Not so much annoyed as bemused methinks Erik You've been pondering this decision for almost two weeks now I think. Do you know what exactly is causing you not to just jump in?

Spending money. I am NOT an impulse buyer, but you all know that by now
post #17 of 37
Ah *lol* Fair enough then. Well, basically you have to convince yourself that you do want a laptop (assuming you still do!), then just ignore that voice in your head that says 'don't spend that much!'. Purchasing online is a big help for that I've found, you don't actually feel like you're spending money
post #18 of 37
Also, given the amount of time you've been looking, I'd hardly call it an impulse!

Oh believe me, I still want a replacement laptop!

I guess the other thing I am concerned about is that I will get it, not like it, and have to send it back. To me thats just another pain in the arse... sending it back and starting all over.
