Aurora m9700: Ordered and Process Reviewed - Page 15

Well well well..

If AW CS is correct which I think they are. I am in Phase 7. They said that MCE arrived there friday evening and they are now loading my software and it should be shipped wednesday or thursday, but I am thinking that they are going to actually ship Friday or Monday.

Well, let me share this.

Before I bought my 1st AW I did A LOT of research. Now, if you google “Alienware” the #1 result is Alienware.com, but the #2 result is “Alienware SUCKS” lol.

So I was a bit weary, but I did more and more research and found that the majority of the complaints were AW inability to meet deadlines. They just plain cannot meet their ship dates on new machines. Furthermore, Alienware is Japanese owned company right? Japanese business do not hold “meeting deadlines” as a high business priority like they do in America… maybe that has something to do with it, idk.

Most complaints on the internet on the delayed shipped dates were not a matter of days, or even weeks, it was months!

But ultimately, when these “complainers” did finally receive their systems they were very satisfied, you have your problem machines here and there, but for the most part everyone was happy when they FINALLY received their machines.

So I went into this company knowing I would be waiting. Hell, I could get a Dell in a week, or wait awhile for a REAL gaming machine. When I ordered my Aurora m7700 my ship date was in 2 weeks. 3 weeks go by and the web site says I’m still in phase 3, CS says otherwise by the time week 4 came along CS told me I was almost done with the production phases (phase 7) and should ship out buy the end of the week, giving me hope. Finally I get a phone call that just about all the key part for this system (GTX card and UXGA screen) are on back order for a MONTH lol.

Still, I was expecting this, as it is very similar to what others have reported on the web regarding ship date.

Now this is my second AW and I am truly prepared for the wait lol.

But for those of you who called CS and they stated you are in phase 4, when the web site says 3… they have changed my status from 3, to 4, to 5. Why haven’t they changed yours?

Hate to be the asshat and piss everyone off… just wanted to be realistic here…

Oh, BTW, all those internet post about how AW sucks for delivery but once you get it they are awesome, ALL TRUE, these machine ROCK, just takes awhile to get it in your house lol. Im only getting rid of the m7700 because of how it behaves on battery power (you can’t run desktop processors in a notebook “.”)

AW is as much Japanese as a hamburger with "patriot fries" is Chinese food.. AW is owned by Dell which is a multinational company based out of Texas.

lol Joker, Dell just bought AW a few months ago. they are still runing as an independant company from Dell, so same management, same business model, ect.

Right but they are still owned by Dell And even before they were bought out, I don't think they were ever owned by a Japanese company. Correct me if I'm wrong guys but AW is based out of Florida.

I took your advice and contacted the Sales department over at Alienware.

They told me....

I would like to inform you that your system is currently waiting to enter Phase 5 (Production: Assembly & Integration). It should be moving forward to assembly in the next couple of days.
I can assure you that we are putting forth our best effort to see that your order is delivered as promptly as possible.
Once your order enters Assembly, it will take approximately 5-7 business days for your order to be finished and ready to ship.
As soon as we have further information about the movement of your order, we will be sending you an email notification.

... Now let's see if what CS says is similar.

It seems to me like they could save a lot of time and energy if they just stayed on top of the order status page better. I'm sure that we here at notebookforums.com have contacted Alienware so much that it would pay off for them to have someone dedicated to keeping that page accurate.

IMO, it is accurate, but this is only my second AW...

correct, they are based out of Miami, but all they do from there is “finalize” and ship the computers. Most AW models come from an OMD like CLEVO or arima for the m9700.

I really guessed on Japanese because 100% of the time I called, I get someone with a Japanese accent, idk, I could be wrong (wouldn’t be the first time

So I wanted to make sure. I called CS again and sales this time. Three times I spoke with them today.

Max, Marcus, and Grace all said the same thing. My computer is in phase 7 and will be at my doorstep next tuesday.

So I dont think the AW people are just making stuff up. Unless the company itself is.

It looks like I will be the first one to get the computer? I will definitely post pics and reviews.

I just got off the phone with CS (talked to Max as well.) I'm apparently still in phase three because my cashier's check is still being validated.
My original estimated ship date was for July 10th but now it's been pushed back to around July 16th-17th thanks to the check still being processed.

My original date for my computer being shipped is July 10th. It looks like I will get mine on time.

Well apparently some other people have it. CNet has pics and a review of it on their website.

That same thing happened to me. I figured if I paid with a cashiers check, things would go faster - appearently that is not the case...

It only took two days for my check to clear, so it shouldn't take you very long...

The CNET review seemed a bit negative on the notebook... It seemed like the editor had something negative to say about every feature of the laptop.
Well what I think it was. They tested it against what dual-core systems are good at. It didnt really seem like they tried for what AMD's are good at. Single program performance, such as games.

They were a little negative, I think.

I fully agree. Also, while they tested gaming, it doesn't seem like they really pushed it what so ever. I'd love to compare the two notebooks against my 3840x1024 triple head display using Matrox Triplehead2go. A non SLI machine would choke at those resolutions. I was impressed to see that fully decked out the laptop weighed only 9.5lbs though! That's pretty sweet considering what this monster is packing.
