Serid, when did you order your m9700???

Look in his sig ;-)

Wow, I read through that entire sig and never noticed that...

Oh well, thanks DFrey89 for pointing out stupidity

Clarification

The order status page still shows me at Phase 3.

I am basically not expecting anything until I see an email notification of it shipping, otherwise it's just speculation.

22 June,

I called today to correct a mispelling in my delivery address. I had them check my status while I had them on the phone. They are still awaiting parts.

Called as wel today (6/22) to get a lower price since the web configurator price was adjusted (Thanks AW). They were extremely helpful and I ended up getting $124 knocked off the price due to price changes since my order.

In addition, I was told that batches of orders (based on when) are going over to billing to be charged as the machines are being configured.

I can't tell if that means they are building/configuring at this point, or still waiting on the parts. Either way, I am supposed to receive an email as soon as it is fully billed (meaing in production).
Hey your right!!! I save about $146 with the same configuration. So I called AW today and they said they would adjust the price as long as the computer was below phase 5, otherwise they cant change anything

Edit: Got an upgrade instead, changed my order to RAID 0 200GB 7200 RPM HDs

W00t maxed out m9700

I'm glad to hear Alienware still has the policy of adjusting the price for any price drops during the process.

AW rocks.

Bah, I didn't have a chance to call today - which department did y'all speak to when calling to get the adjustment?

I think you're supposed to call customer service. If you're bored, you could try support or sales, but they'll likely tell you that you need to call customer service during their normal hours.

That's cool, I didn't know if there was some "special department that handles those cases" that I needed to talk to. I think I will see if they will swap me over to MCE with the TV Tuner in the process.

I'm sure my check is still being held by the bank, so it shouldn't slow me down any...

They will let you change your order to add the tv tuner and change the OS, but be warned they may put you at the end of the line...

And I've also learned that though the m9700 has gone into production, component shortages are holding things up, especially the screens. They're supposed to get more shipments this week though... Guess that means tomorrow?

arrrrgh, the end of the line - oh well, I am not sure how this works now, but it will actually only cost me $8 dollars from my new low price to add the MCE w/tuner and remote...

Usually if you call and change your order they say it may delay your order, because in some cases it means they have to pull the machine out of the assembly process to change it.

Your change is pretty simple and it's not likely they're working on your machine yet due to inventory issues on the screens, so it probably won't change your timing.

LOL!

I'm sure they'd be happy to adjust your price...

Now if they adjust the price do we move to the back of the production line?
I asked and AW:CS and they said no since its only a financial thing. However using that recouped $$$ to upgrade your system might delay your lappy depending on what you get.

No, the price thing won't affect the build, but changing the order can.

I brought it up because changing the order sometimes can. If they have the machine half built, and you change something, the way Alienware builds them they usually pull them out of assembly and depending on the parts they can end up putting you back to the beginning. They could stop everything and swap out the hardware in the one system, but that slows everything else down.

What about adding software or recovery?

Software shouldn't add any delays. You can buy that through the gear shop or through Alienware anytime. If by recovery you mean the Alien Respawn disc, they need to create the disc on the machine itself, so if you ask for it after its past the stage when they do that process, they have to send the machine back to where it's done.

Once they ship, you can't get the respawn disc because they need the machine to make it.

You can always rebuild windows from the windows disc that comes with every system.
