NEC Versa E600 wont boot

Hi,

I have an NEC Versa E600 that gives the following beeps on power up:

1 slow 4 fast 2 slow

Nothing on screen, no action but the above beeps

Any ideas what is wrong, I think it may be the mother board?

Thanks

See if you can get your hands on some different RAM sticks. They're the most common BIOS problem I've had, and the easiest to check. If it has two sticks of RAM, take one out. If that doesn't work, swap slots. Still no, swap sticks out. Still no, swap slots with the second stick. If NONE of that does anything different, you can be sure it's not RAM.

If it has a removable video card, remove it and try to power up. If it gives you the same beeps, that's probably the problem. Different beeps, different problem. Find what BIOS version it has if you can, and google it or look in the manual. Somewhere, someone knows how to translate all the beeps for your particular BIOS, and then you don't have to troubleshoot so hard.

it's probably your bad RAM, since the others device is tightly fit into your slot so i don't think any others device will causing you this, otherswise, it is CMOS problem.
