Burn speed for DVD burner TSST L532B?

Hi all,

I've recently purchased a M1710 and burned a few files with the laptop burner and Nero 6. In Nero, the setting that my burner is set to is 4x, there is no option to switch to 8x which, I had thought I bought this laptop with. Anyone else having this problem with the TSST TS-L532B. Or have an idea what I'm doing wrong? I've tried the search function for this board but did not find discussions around the burning speed of this particular burner. I checked to make sure that it is in DMA mode 2 if that helps any.

Thanks!

It depends on the media. I have 3 different brands of dvdr's and all of them are rated at 8X but only one will burn at 8X, another at 6 and the other at 4x. I returned this drive to Dell and got the NEC. This drive also has problems playing current EA Game titles. Hope this helps.

Hmmm...now I'm curious. I have to reinstall some of my old games and see. I wonder if C&C Generals count as current...

EA Games like BF2 and Need for Speed Most Wanted. Or any other game that uses SafeDisc4 Game Copy Protection.
