Will vista premium work with the ATI xpress 200m?

Microsoft recently released the required specs for windows vista, the premium version requires:

800mhz + processor
1gb ram
128mb dedicated vram

I'm wondering whether the ATI xpress 200m (128mb) integrated chipset on my HP DV5000 is going to work with the premium version... anybody have any answers?

No one really knows for sure right now, since the final build or even RC of Win Vista has not be nailed down yet. But the likelihood is that it should work with a majority of the GUI features; but certain side-bar gadgets or things such as Flip-3D may not work well, depending on how geometry intensive these utilities get.

Remember, Vista Premium probably also require things such as Hybrid HDD and 802.11n, not many high end desktops, let alone notebooks would be completely compatible with Vista Premium; which is still almost 1 year away from consumer launch.

So, that sucks. I guess peeps running the 200M have to use something else? I mean, I don't plan on upgrading right away, but its sad to know that I cant upgrade to that.

Well, that's still one of the greatest advantages of owning a desktop; even when notebooks are upgradable, upgrades will often cost disproportionally more (compared to the original purchase price), for notebooks than for desktops.

Vista will work on the 200M if you have 512mb of system ram. It just won't run all the features, many notebooks wont, as some features require DX10 video card.
