Acer 8204 bundles - what's the difference?

Hi all

Looking at PriceGrabber.com, I'm seeing three different SKUs for the TravelMate 8204 WLMi notebook. Can anybody tell me what is the difference between the following?
  • LXTAX06034
  • LXTAX06034KIT1
  • LXTAX06034KIT2

I presume there's some difference in hardware (memory, hard disk, processor, DVD drive, etc.) or product bundle (software, battery, VOIP phone, , etc.) - but I can't actually see any difference in the product descriptions...

Thanks for the reply. Oddly, Buy.com (which has both the base and KIT2 variants, but not the KIT1) reckons that the KIT2 comes with a 1 year warranty.

Other than that, the *only* difference that I can see in the specs they list is that the KIT2 is listed as coming with slower RAM, even though it currently costs $600 *more*.

I've emailed Buy.com to ask them for clarification.

Well - I got a reply back from Buy.com. That's fast, but it was canned - just referred me to Acer for info.

Looking at Acer's site I did find the following of interest. There are two 8200-series models, both listed as having two different SKU numbers:

TM8202WLMi - T2300 CPU, 2*512MB RAM, 100GB HDD
LX.TAX06.069 (Windows XP Pro Spanish)
LX.TAX06.071 (Windows XP Pro Brazilian Portuguese)

TM8204WLMi - T2500 CPU, 2*1GB RAM, 120GB HDD
LX.TAX06.034 (Windows XP Pro English)
LX.TAX06.035 (Windows XP Pro Canadian French)

So - the 8202 is for South America with slightly reduced spec / cost (presumably), the 8204 for North America with slightly increased spec / cost. Still no idea what the Kit1 / Kit2 on the LX.TAX06.034 is though...

If you have read the other thread carefully you would know that Kit1 and Kit2 is only about the kind of warranty that comes bundelled with the TM8200, and in that thread it's also mentioned that there are TM8202 and its bigger brother 8204, and all the differences in the SKU numbers is related to the region in which the TM8200 is being sold, for localized regional language sittings.

On www.mwave.com here in the US ,the product discription it say that kit 1 has an addtion a 2 year warranty and kit 2 has the two year warranty plus accidental insurance. Wish I had bought kit 2. When I bought mine they didn't have the kits until after I ordered.
