I just got back from shipping mine back to Dell soon as I found out a few hours ago that the 7900 Go GS was available. Re-ordered again and got the system in my sig. Anyone else do the same or plan to?

My brother is getting this for his birthday:

1.66GHz Core Duo
7900 GS 256MB
1GB RAM
100GB 7200RPM HDD
17" WXGA
2 Year At-Home Warranty
$2008
-$750 coupon
Free shipping
= $1258 + tax

Did you use a coupon with yours? Seems a bit pricey.

Luckly I didn't have to return it. It was still in production. The nice female american sales rep was nice enough to jump thru hoops to get all my coupons applied to a new order and it ended up being only $200 more.

Sweet, lets see who gets their system first!

They're probably bluffing with their silly delays... I think sticking with the default 1GB 533MHz RAM and getting the 2GB 667MHz RAM from newegg would have been a better deal.

That's what I plan to do.

I wish I had my XPS Gen2 when I started college. My crappy desktop sucked and I hated lugging it around. But my XPS is awesome and completely makes up for all that

Haha yeah I love my XPS Gen 2 as well. If I could've upgraded it to a 7900 series card, I wouldn't have ordered an E1705 (which is a much uglier laptop IMO).

From what I have noticed from nvidia's website the 7800 gtx has much better specs than the 7900 gs . If the e1705 can support the 7900gtx then I would switch

The E1705 does support the 7900 GTX so that's why I switched. For now the 7900 GS will do fine until the GTX becomes available at Dell spare parts. Besides, I might OC the 7900 GS a bit to get it closer to 7800 GTX performance levels.

Add in the $10-$15 software they have available during configuration.

Just add something small (A restore CD or a remote).

Makes sense, I was a little puzzled initially that you were replacing your XPS 2 with the 9400.

5150 Joker nice specs, but it seems kind of pricey. Try getting one $35 off coupons and contact Dell telling them you forgot to apply that coupon and they will give you a credit. Ordering from EPP will also save you some $$$. Did you had the previous e1705 with the WXGA? If so, how does it look compared to the UltraSharp screen? (planning in configuring a budget gaming laptop for a friend)

I could've saved about $400+ if I would've went with a 1.6 ghz cpu and 1 yr mail warranty but I didn't wanna go that route, that's why it cost what it did.

I have a big dilemma...i purchased a e1705 last week and got a 7800...in order for me to return it and get the 7900 GS i have to pay roughly $154 Dollars including shipping costs and reduce my Processor from a 1.83 to a 1.66...Any suggestions or thoughts...is it worht the money hassle and processor downgrade???

PS my 7800 OC's quite well...using coolbits it have my clocks at 346/847....

ALSO does the 35 ebay coupon stack with the current 750 off??? if so that would take it down to roughlyy 120 dollars...

You'd probably save more money by just buying the 7900 from DELL and doing the upgrade your self and selling your 7800.
