Oh, I hadn't noticed, cool. Well here's hoping the GS's internals are just a little reorganized..

Well I got mine today as well. I am quite happy, hardly any noticable light leakage. I swaped the DVD burner for the CD Burner in my M170.

I did take off the LCD hinge cover and take the keyboard off. There is indead only 1 heat pipe. I have not installed 3DMark yet, but I will soon enough.

Yeah this really blows, I was hoping we'd get dual heatpipes but deep down I knew they wouldn't do that with a factory system. Now I'm just hoping someone like balth'zar is willing to sell us a dual heatpipe.

He's got 3 of them in stock and all are dual pipe. Hey if you want a single pipe, I'll sell you mine heh. Oh and yeah I want the dual pipe because I want to push this thing as far as it can go and overvolt it.

Here's some pictures I took:

First two pics are of the metal brackets everyone talks about. These are the ones that will need to be removed in order to accomodate 2 pipes and/or 7900 Go GTX:

This is a picture of the 6800 Go Ultra sitting on top of the 7900 Go GS:

And finally the 7900 Go GS core:

Well it's a bit late, yeah, but I just finally did it so...

I sent my E1705 back to Dell today.. Paid $1685 for my 2ghz duo, 60gb 7200rpm, 7800 go, WUXGA screen, and a 4 year warranty.. Finally convinced myself I should wait a month or two for a better deal, or at least drop the warranty and maybe CPU down to 1.83 to more than cover the 7900 gs.

Losing the warranty won't make me feel half bad for looking into a merom chip later, and I guess I can always upgrade it if I get less ambitious. Anyway, another 7800 go(es) back to Dell!

The NEC DVD drive was loud as a mofo, too.. If that's quiet compared to Sonys, holy crap. VERY noticeable constant noise while watching a movie, really distracting.. hopefully that was actually defective..

Stinks waiting on credit for a Dell return, how long does that usually actually take? Their estimated 25 business days seems crazy!

credit takes about 3-5 days after they confirm they recieved the return.
