So who else returned their new E1705 and ordered one with a 7900 GS? - Page 5

Hmm.. good suggestions, I appreciate it! Lowest I can get the same configuration with just the video card different is just over $1900, though.. . I'd forgotten about the $35 off 300 coupons.. those are primarily from catalogs / ebay?

I already got the return authorization.. UPS is supposed to come to my house in the next 48 hours to pick the thing up. I could mysteriously "not be home" and just take it to UPS when I'm ready, I suppose .

I guess another consideration is that I don't really NEED the thing until late July, so maybe it'd be worth just holding tight until then to see what pops up? Are $750 off coupons common, or pretty much always running? Thanks again!

Edit: oops, last thing.. whats up with the audigy.. is it just extra software and a waste of $20?

Yeah.. looks like prices might have dropped right before I bought mine, so it's already reflected

Edit: Not sure I have the money right now to keep the old one and order a new one before the money's refunded, so I might be waiting that up to 20 business days anyway.. =/

Out for delivery...not much longer now.

Same here.. Out for Delivery. Looks like we are gonna get them on the same day joker.

I hope this machine isn't too kick ass, cause it's going to my wife. I will suffer with my i9300/M170 mod till I can afford a M1710.

lol mines going to my wife after I tinker with it a bit as well. I really have no need for a laptop since I game exclusively on my desktop and I got a nice smartphone for mobile internet and chatting. I'm 99.9% certain that I'll most likely be putting in a call to Dell to replace the screen and dvd burner though that'll have to wait until Mon. You should just buy another E1705 if you want a laptop for yourself unless you really need the few extra things the XPS M1710 has like the docking port, leds and smart card reader.

I had one, it was sharp but bleeded at the bottom especially the bottom corners, and only so-so vertical viewing angle, horizontal wasn't too bad. I ran it one notch below max brightness, but you can see the bleed even a few notches down.

Got it!

I just got back from class and the new rig was here! Am reinstalling windows right now to get rid of all this crap, then going to eat Chipotle. But here is the first impression:

Screen: LG- looks good so far, with a little less leakage then the Samsung I had.

DVD Drive: Sony- This thing is crap.. so fricken loud. is there anyway to call dell and get an NEC one?

Power button- smooth as silk, no gangsta lean this time! And it works!

GPU: 7900 GS So far I am just installing windows, but later on... 3DMark05 will be run ... and I will report.

Damnit... My wife goes out for 15min to pick up my son from school and she missed the delivery.

Typical woman too, I tell her to leave a note on the door to deliver it to the next door neighbor incase they are not there by the time she leaves. Does she do that... NO

I hate trying to deal with UPS for pickup from the local center too. It's 30 minutes out of my way for my drive home from work.

The same thing happened to me last time!!! Except it was my roomates... my 4 roomates that were here all day and somehow missed the UPS man. Isn't that great. GO! Drive now to beat the rush hour traffic!!

Haha I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that's married whose wife hasn't missed a delivery or two. I'm still waiting on mine to be delivered, should be here soon though I'm not looking forward to the Sony DVD drive and AU Optronics LCD

can you do a benchmark with dell stock video drivers with no overclocking first! so we can all reference the increase from 1. modified drivers, 2. overclocking.
