Fastest Graphics ?

Hello everyone,

I have a 5105 which I'm very happy with - the CASV is fantastic -
The graphics though are slowing me down - I use 3D aps (XSI) on the go.
And let's not talk about the miserable battery life (90 minutes when I'm holding my breath)

So I'm looking for something more powerful, I bought a M60 which I am about to return because the screen is horrible and the machine feels really flimsy.

I'm looking at the toshiba web site and I see the only graphics card available is the 5200go which I read is very slow.
The 5205 which had a 5600go is discontinued.
So what are my choices ?

Thanks,

Do you know what for ?

What I mean is Toshiba's latest laptops doesn't combine the features I am looking for and focuses too much on laptop TV for what I want to do. And they don't seem to catter to 3D anymore...

Toshiba's latest laptops aren't what you're looking for, but wait about 1-2 months. The GeForce 5700 go is going to be put in their newer laptops and it's only a matter of time before they roll on out. They'll probably be put in with the newest Pentium Ms (Dothans) or even the Banias, but whatever, as long as it has good battery life and good graphics capabilities, I think you'll find what you're looking for from Toshiba quite soon. =]

Do you think it is going to be as bulky as the P25?

I really don't think it'll be as bulky as the P25. For instance, Dell's 8600 uses a Pentium M as its processor and it's a few pounds lighter and thinner than the P25. Pentium Ms + centrino technology allow for computers to be smaller, run cooler, and run more efficiently overall (energy wise). Anything that uses a Pentium M really isn't so much a desktop replacement as the P25 is.

Be careful there. Just becasue it is not a desktop chip does not mean it cannot replace a desktop. The dothan certainly will perform as well as a desktop and the 1.7 M chip replaces a 2.8 desktop in everyway.

what I don't understand is I researched alot of notebooks and Toshiba was my first choice. But those aircraft carrier looking things were too bulky and they only had the 5200 V card. BUT, I bought a Dell with the 5200 and it runs all kinds of games well, I also nearly bought the S119 until I realized the Pentium 4M chip is old news and the M chip has completly replaced it. I think Toshiba had some parts lying around and made a few of those machines and blew them out using the CASV screen to seal the deal.

I wish Toshiba had, had a nice config with a Pentium M chip for gaming and 3 D apps.

The P25 is just too big because of the 17 inch screen and you don't benefit from it because of some bad keyboard design.
Look at the old 5105, perfect form factor, big enough screen easy to carry.

Toshiba is on a trend for the bigger screen that would make it too unpractical for me to use as a *MOBILE* workstation.
