DV5000Z Hard Drive question

Thread Starter
I currently have a ATA100 2.5 100Gig 5400rpm Toshiba Drive from another laptop that I would like to utilize. Is it possible to put it in the DV5000Z? Does it use the 2.5 ATA 100 Drives or am I out of luck?

If it's like the dv8000(z) and the dv8000(t)... The dv5000z doesn't use a SATA drive (AFAIK)... the (t) series uses SATA hd's... so you should be able to use it.

It should use a 2.5 drive.

As a suggestion to increase the chance of getting the right info, you may want to LOOK at that spare drive to get the model number voltage/amp draw off of it and add that you your post when asking such a question. Hard to tell without a model number..., specs.

PS: One way to check is to get the info off that spare drive, and with that in hand Google around for the hd used in the dv5000z..... Look at user "sigs" to see who here has a dv5000z... and ask them what model drive came installed in their machine so you could compare specs...

Another idea would be to Google around.... allot of sites selling hd's will have a listing of what fits what.... Compare the specs and if they match you should be good to go.
