I'm about to buy an S609, but before I do, I just wanna make sure it doesn't become obsolete within the next 3 months

Are there any plans for an upgraded model anytime soon

I was ready to purchase the 609, but I keep reading on this forum the advice to "wait 'till March". So apparently, Toshiba may roll out new models in March. So I'm in a waiting mode.

Whenever you buy a laptop in 3 to 6 months there will be nicer faster and probably cheaper models out.

Do you need it now or not? If you don't then wait.

Hi

The theory is, buy what you want with the strongest processor and the most amount of RAM you can afford now and don't look back. We all know, you buy it today and tomorrow is a little behind the times. No matter when you buy, that will be the story. My personal experience can testify to this.

On July 21, 2003, Toshiba came out and posted a hot new product announcement on the P25-S607. This was their Flagship! On Aug 18, 2003, I purchased this baby and bought extra RAM to boost it to 1 GIG RAM. Then I Sep 30, 2003, they came out with the P25-S609. Had a boost on the CPU, came with 1 GIG of RAM instead of 512 and it also had a 80 GIG HD vice the 60 GIG HD on the 607. Yeah, I was a little pissed off when it first came out, but I quickly got over it!

My Toshiba is SWEEEEET! Knock on wood - never a glitch, no problems anywhere and the screen is perfect. I got one of the great ones, one that made it through quality control at 100% and it was actually 100%!

So, buy the 609, you will not be unhappy! If you don't need it and can wait, then wait if that is what you would like to do, but what happens in March when nothing happens and then the rumor says May and you again wait and again nothing happens and another date comes up? See my point??

So, buy the Toshiba Flagship and love it like no other!!! Good Luck!
